It is so interesting how we can become so focused on what we have missed out on, that we miss what is right in front of us. We wish for different outcomes instead of being grateful for the outcome that we created. When we do this, we aren’t living in the moment and are in effect missing out on our life.
How different would we feel, if we lived in the moment focusing on what is here, rather than wishing for something different? What if we found a way to look at what is happening as what we created and if we don’t like it, we can recreate it? What if we took the judgment out of it? How much more would we enjoy life? The simple daily things that we take for granted? Life is too short to have regrets. It’s never tot late to re-write out story, to start again, being our authentic self.
I challenge you this month to look at what you have instead of what you don’t and look at how different you feel, behave and how much more you embrace your life. We aren’t guaranteed anything, why not give thanks for where we are today, for what we have and for what we have the ability to create, and let the ‘what ifs” go” When we understand that we are what we focus on and that we can shape our life anyway we want, we don’t have to judge it, we can simply decide to change it. Or accept it, what will you do this month? (Leigh Kubin, Food For Thought, April Newsletter)
"I like to think of intuitive feelings as the voice from our highter selves that whispers to us what is for our highest and best good. The "good" refered to here is not necessarily money in the bank or the new promotion, as much as it is information for our greater long-term happiness and our energetic and spiritual growth.
Usually when we follow our passion (our intuition) a desired promotion or the money will come because we are acting from a deeper source. Our higher self always knows what is best for us. If we do not pay attention to this "inner advice" it does not mean the information is not in our best interest; we have unfortunately chosen to ignore it."(Quote from: Holly Ziegler, M.A., Ed.)
The inventors of the aeroplane made thousands of "mistakes" before it was actually airborne. Those early aviation attemtps often appeared humorous and embarrassing. Sometimes they were fatal. But from each mistake made, those pioneers learned something new. We are now able to fly around our world, and beyond it, because a group of people, who were once thought to be crackpots, were brave enough to endure the frustration of their mistakes so that something could be learned. Their achievements were the result of their ardent passion to do what they wanted to do. In their case, it was to fly. That was their desire; their love; their will. If you look at your life's mistakes in the same way, you will be exhilarated by your innocence and your potential. You will prevent the guilt of your past, present and future mistakes from weighing you down. (Quote from: Christine DeLorey, Life Cycles)
Happy Mother’s Day month to all of your Mother’s! I hope this is a month that you truly nurture yourself and through nurturing yourself, you will see the beautiful thing this creates for your families and in particular your daughters.
This month I’m going to challenge all of you to treat yourself with the love and acceptance that we treat our children with. Listen to some of the messages that you give yourself, and when you hear what you are telling yourself, you will realize that you wouldn’t talk that way to anyone else. Replace those words with words that build you up.
You are your oldest and dearest friend, why not cherish yourself. Think about what you want for your children, self acceptance, self love, self respect; you want your children to live life to the fullest and most importantly to be happy. The best way to give this to them is to live it! If you don’t feel like you are enough, your children won’t either. If they see you living the life that makes you happy, it gives them permission to do the same. As we begin to focus on what we want instead of what we don’t the things we don’t want fall away and what we want is here in front of us. We create our life, so get creative! You will never be anybody but who you are, so embrace yourself! Joseph Campbell said “Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls” Follow your bliss this month, and enjoy the doors that will open.
One of the best gifts that you can give yourself is a gratitude journal. Start a tradition this month to write about what you are grateful for everyday. When you get up in the morning, begin to write 5 things you are grateful for. Watch how your day unfolds, how you feel and how the little things don’t bother you. Notice how what you give your attention to shows up and what you aren’t paying attention to falls away.
Enjoy re-connecting or finding yourself this month. Have fun, be compassionate and embrace what you find! (Leigh Kubin, Food For Thought, May Newsletter)
Ok, we keep going over the idea of creating our life on purpose,. that our life is now; what does this mean? To me it means that it doesn’t matter how old we are, or what we have believed about ourselves in the past; it’s about what we focus on and we believe about ourselves today. Our thoughts determine our reality. If we focus on all of the things that we believe we can’t achieve, this is what we will be surrounded by. On the other hand we focus on things we can do, that we want to do, we will be surrounded by endless opportunities. We get what we focus on, what are you focused on?
When we notice how our outlook determines what kind of day (and life) we have, we can transform everything. Our emotions are a guide for us, not for judgment, but for clarity. Your emotions are a preview of what is coming, if you don’t like what you are feeling, choose different thoughts.
It is very interesting how we can shift our mood by shifting our thoughts. What we think about we bring about, so think big! Have fun and remember that you alone can do anything you want with your life, you just need to visualize it. Whether you believe you can or your can’t, you’re right! Enjoy limitless possibilities this month, your life is NOW! (Leigh Kubin, Food For Thought, June Newsletter)
